The Pragues Old Town is one of the most interesting and most visited places in Prague. Its Old Town Square with ancient buildings and magnificant churches makes it one of the most beautiful historical sights in Europe, and the Ostrovni Residence Apartments are situated just 5 minute walk away from the square.
The Old Down Square started its life in late 12th century as the central marketplace for Prague. Over the next few centuries, many beautiful buildings of Romanesque, Baroque and Gothic styles with fascinating house signs were built around the market. The square's most notable sights are the Church of Our Lady before Tyn, the Old Town Hall Tower with Astronomical Clock, the St. Nicholas Church or the monument of the Hussite reformer Jan Hus completed in 1915 on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of its death.
The beautiful square is today surraunded by many restaurants, shops, galleries or pavement cafs for those who like to sit back and soak up the atmosphere over a coffee.
